Richard A. Berkowitz Named Chair of Bounce Back From Cancer

MIAMI, October 1, 2023 – Berkowitz Pollack Brant Advisors + CPAs announced today that founding and executive chairman Richard A. Berkowitz, JD, CPA, was appointed chair of Bounce Back from Cancer, a partnership between the Miami Heat and Baptist Health Foundation.

Berkowitz is an exemplary member of the South Florida community, having served as chairman of the boars of  The Miami Foundation, and as a member of the executive committee of the Broward Workshop, the Citizens Board at the University of Miami and the board of directors of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Foundation, Take Stock in Children and FairDistricts NOW. In addition, Berkowitz served as past chairman of the Community Foundation of Broward and the Dolphins Cancer Challenge.

He has been recognized by various organizations for his commitment to supporting and empowering the South Florida community, receiving the honors of “Dorothy Shula Award for Outstanding Volunteerism” from Leadership Broward, “Joyce Galya Award for Community Service” from the University of Miami, the “Florida CPAs in Public Service Award” from the Florida Institute of CPAs and a “Champion of Education” from the Florida Department of Education. Berkowitz has also been recognized multiple times as an “Ultimate CEO,” Top-100 Power Leader” and “Power Leader in Corporate Philanthropy” by the South Florida Business Journal.

Bounce Back from Cancer

Bounce Back from Cancer is a partnership between the Miami HEAT and Baptist Health Foundation to help raise essential funds for cutting-edge research and clinical trials at Miami Cancer Institute. Uniting South Florida, participants can dribble or walk 14.2 from the Miami Cancer Institute to Kaseya Center or two miles from The Underline over the Brickell Bridge to Kaseya Center, as well as join virtually by dribbling or walking a 14.2-mile or two-mile course of their choice. Since its inception in 2018, the event has raised more than $6.5 million.
